Submission Guidelines

The River Muse is spreading their waters to print beginning in the fall. We will be publishing two print/ebook Issues a year of poetry, photography, and art. The number of poets we publish per issue will rise to 10-15 poems and one featured poet along with the winner from our seasonal poetry contest. Our features entail an up close interview. In addition, online we will have a poet of the week with or without an audio recording. Up to three poems per submission. (begins fall 2013)

You can submit your work one of two ways to The River Muse

and fee receipt (from paypal) to the correct email for each category- found below in the guidelines

All Guidelines must be Followed to be Considered

** Submissions are open for the                Fall/Winter Issue from March to August

                                                                Spring/Summer issue from September to February.

1- two to three poems of any form
2- single spaced
3- 12 pt – Times Roman
4- limit of 40 lines
5- small biography -max 200 words; photo- optional
6- We welcome audio recordings of poems
7- one submission every session
8- $3 fee per submission
9- Published poets will receive a small compensation and a free ebook copy of the issue. (begins fall 2013)
10- We accept published poetry and simultaneous submissions *we ask you make note of past publishing and inform us if the poem was accepted elsewhere ** send your submission to: cw@theriverjournal.org

Photography

The River Muse publishes quarterly Issues of poetry, photography, and art along with creative writings and articles.

Each issue we feature a poet, a photographer and an artist. Contributor Rights ~ Our policy is the general copyright law that states that your work is yours.

We ask if you can wait to publish your work until three days after we publish.

Please be aware that submission of work, does not guarantee that it will be featured in The River Muse, but that it will be considered.

Those who submit their work will be notified that it has been received. If your work is selected for publication you will be notified a second time.

Please note: The River Muse is a quarterly journal. *The River Muse has the rights to edit the bio for the usage of the featured poet or artist. All featured poets and artist have the option to be published in our yearly anthology in print.
