DuK: Liberty in Tranquility

Peace has been spoken about throughout mankind. The following are quotes of peace I selected for this article. They include a singer, a mother, modern philosophers, knowledgeable, political, humorous, poets, a demonstrator, a conservationist and wise men of the ages. Let me know your favorite. Enjoy! Peace!

John Lennon sang, “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.”
Mother Teresa said, “Peace begins with a smile.” “What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.”
Mahatma Ghandi said, “The day the power of love over rules the love of power, the world will know peace.”
Albert Einstein said, “Peace can not be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”
Thomas Jefferson speaking said, “Peace and friendship with all mankind is our wisest policy, and I wish we may be permitted to pursue it.”
George Carlin offered on stage, “Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity.”
Dave Barry wrote, “My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of M & M’s and a chocolate cake. I feel better already.”
Walt Whitman scribed, “Peace is always beautiful.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson penned, “Peace can not be achieved through violence, it can only be obtained through understanding.”
Dalai Lama meditated and offered, “World peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not just mere absence of violence. Peace is I think, the manifestation of human compassion.”
“I believe all suffering is caused by ignorance. People inflict pain on others in the selfish pursuit of their happiness or satisfaction. Yet true happiness comes from a sense of peace and contentment, which in turn must be achieved through the cultivation of altruism, of love and compassion, and elimination of ignorance, selfishness, and greed.”
John Muir said ahead of his time, “Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Natures peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”
And my favorite…
Cicero quoted, “Peace is liberty in tranquility.”
